"I will take you away from among the nations, gather you from all the foreign lands, and bring you back to your own land…you shall be my people, and I will be your God." (Ez 36: 24, 28)

Carmel in the Holy Land began its establishment in the late nineteenth century, in a historical situation characterized by Catholic missionary expansion, reaffirmed by the restoration of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and drawing from a healthy and international political conjuncture. In this context, the Spirit blows in the heart of the people chosen for this work: bring Carmel to the Promised Land, the land of revelation and the cradle of our Order.

Each monastery begins with a particular sign associated to the mystery of the earthly existence of Jesus, in this land where the Word was made flesh.

The ecclesial-contemplative charism of every Carmelite acquires a unique meaning here: being part of the new Israel we are associated with the mysteries of the Incarnation and redemption in situ, called to recreate this mystery in prayer, contemplation and fraternal life with an ecclesial and missionary sense.

Bethlehem - Nazareth - Jerusalem and Mount Carmel embody the spiritual path to which we invite all Christians, all men and women of goodwill.
