It is truly a grace to live in such places, from which, as Psalm 87 says, “flow all our sources”.Love for the humanity of Christ, which pervades the entire spiritual experience of our Holy Mother, St Teresa finds, in the places where He was born, lived died and was risen, ongoing stimulus and nourishment. Alongside this source, is another even more abundant one to which we turn, the eremitical and monastic tradition from which Carmel has sprung, with the first community of the primitive hermits, from the same spring of Elijah and the Rule of St Albert. This continuity with our early Fathers, so dear to St Teresa, constantly recalls us to prayer and contemplation. (Cf. 5M 1,2).
